Our legendary ginger slices are one of the most popular hostess gifts we sell in our shop. Sweet and super spicy, this crystallized ginger is great for snacking, baking, and cocktails!
Ingredients: Ginger, Cane Sugar.
"GRANNY GOES GINGER" APPLE PIE FILLING RECIPE
4 to 4 1/4 pounds of Granny Smith apples (peeled, cored and sliced)
1 oz. fresh squeezed lemon juice
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon Maldon sea salt flakes
1 heaping teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 cup of Modern General® Ginger Slices chopped into tiny pieces
2 tablespoons tapioca flour
1 tablespoon sweet cream butter
1 large egg
Put the apple slices in a large bowl, and toss with lemon juice.
Sprinkle sugars and spices over the apples and mix until they are all coated.
Cover and set aside for an hour at room temperature.
Then make your favorite crust - or take it out of the freezer :)
Assemble by tossing apple spice mix in the tapioca flour.
Transfer your filling into the pie crust, pouring any remaining juices over the mixture.
For a double crusted pie take a second crust and use for a top, or cut into strips and weave across top of pie filling.
Bake at 350 degrees for an hour, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
